Although everyone
is welcome to use the VCCS services, some of the commercial
sources referenced on this and associated pages are restricted to the
faculty and students of the VCCS because of licensing agreements. This
restriction is enforced currently by in two ways:
(1) On-campus
access is limited to workstations connected to the VCCNET to
access these databases, i.e., limited to VCCS owned IP addresses;
(2) Off-campus
access is controlled by using a proxy server that required the user to
have a VCCS user id and password-- for instructions on how to use the
proxy server go to the proxy server information
pages.
The symbol (VIVA
only) means that VIVA licensed the database
and it is available to VCCS users through its membership in VIVA. The
symbol (VCCS only)
means that the VCCS licensed the database and it is available to VCCS
users only.
