Tagging and Printing Records

There are 2 ways to print  FirstSearch Records:
1.  Print one Record at a time
2.  Print a list of Tagged Records

1.  Printing one Record at a time

To Print a Record:
Go to the Full Record you want to Print.
This example uses a Full Record from the Social Sciences Abstracts database.
Click the Netscape or Internet Explorer "Print" button.

2.  Printing a list of Tagged Records

FirstSearch lets you Tag Records to create a custom list of the best Records from your search.
You can then display the list of Tagged Records and print them together (or email them).

To Print a list of Tagged Records:
We'll use the Brief Records from a search in the Social Sciences Abstracts database
Choose the Records you want to Tag.  You can Tag up to 20 Records.
From the Brief Records results page, click in the "Tag Record" box next to each Record to tag.
A small check mark will appear.
We'll Tag #1 and #3.

Tagging 2 Records

Now you can view the Tagged Records in order to Print or Email them.
To view the Tagged Records, click the "Show" button under Tagged Records.

Showing the list of Tagged Records

FirstSearch then shows the list of Tagged Records.
We only tagged 2 Records, #1 and #3 in our Brief Records list.
We could have Tagged up to 20 Records.

Viewing a list of Tagged Records

We could Print this list of Tagged Records just like we Print individual Records, by using the "Print" button.
We could Email the list by clicking on the "E-Mail Records" button.
(We'll learn about E-Mailing in the next lesson.)

To go back to the Brief Results, click the "Results" menu5.jpg (1989 bytes) icon on the Menu Bar.

To start a new list of Tagged Records, click the "Clear" button under Tagged Records.

Clearing the list of Tagged Records

You can tell the Tags are Cleared because the check marks are gone
and our Tagged Records = (None).

Tagged Records are cleared

Next we'll learn how to Email Records.
